  • Freeze and fawn with authorities.

  • Repress emotions like anger, sadness, and erotic feelings

  • Have a hard time starting or completing big dreams and project ideas due to lack of focus, procrastination, getting distracted by other ideas, or feeling self doubt.

  • Have unresolved trauma that limits you from showing up in your fullest, expressed, and radiant self.

  • Lack in healthy diet, exercise or sleep.

  • Struggle with addictive behaviors that you continue to do despite the fact that it brings negative consequences into your life.” Addictions may include:

    • Drugs or alcohol

    • Food (emotional eating, binge eating, or over eating)

    • Technology (phone, social media, TV, etc)

    • Over working

    • Sex (including porn, masterbating)

    • A bad relationship to money (habitually being in debt, gambling, overspending, shopping)

    • Procrastination or avoidance of actions that are good for you like exercise

    • Holding resentment

    • Self doubt (doubt your ability to love, to be loved, to complete things you’ve started, or live a successful life)

    • ***Note on addictions - if I sense that your addictions would be better served a different coach/counsellor, I will refer you to them (for example some people with eating disorder, alcoholism, or drug abuse).

I can help you…

  • Care for your body by improving diet, exercise, and sleep.

  • Make your life vision your top priority and say “no” to shiny distractions

  • Dream bigger and break it down into high impact actions

  • Improve productivity systems and stop procrastinating

  • Show up more authentically in relationships

  • You want a coach that makes your life vision your top priority. You want coaching to dream bigger, be more productive, stop procrastinating, eat better, exercise, say “no” to shiny distractions,

  • You have some kind of project or dream vision bigger than yourself that you’re moving towards. I’ll help you dream bigger, break it down into tangible actions, design productivity systems, hold you accountable to completing those actions, emotionally holding you when you feel self doubt/imposter syndrome/discouraged along the way, and say “no” to the other shiny ideas that distract you from your #1 big dream.

  • You’ve already been on a journey of personal growth and are ready to do the deep inner work. I’m full on. We’re going deep into an inquiry about your trauma, grief, limiting beliefs, father/mother wounds, and inner protectors. We’re laying out all your coping mechanism cards and starting your recovery journey. After a short while, you will embody new behaviors such as asking for help, sharing your heart openly with others, revealing thoughts/feelings you normally withhold, following through projects to completion, stop procrastinating/avoiding tasks, and more.

  • You want a counsellor that is present/attuned, doesn’t give BS, calls you out, hurts in a good way, safe for tiers or rage thats wants to express, and when exploring your behaviors that no longer serve you goes straight to the roots of your trauma.

  • In relationships (especially with people with power, authority, or anger) you tend to people please, avoid conflict, withhold your true thoughts/feelings, and fawn.

We may not be a good fit if…

  • What you want is to find a great partner, have kids, and buy a house that’s fine but you’re not my client. My favorite clients have side projects, things they’re building, there’s a goal in mind.

  • Your reaction to my honest feedback and challenging truths is defensiveness, denial, posturing, anger, and blaming me. I work best with clients when we can meet each other in full honesty, humility, try on each other’s reflections about ourselves and take them off if they don’t resonate.

  • You consistently don’t do your homework or come prepared to sessions. I work best with client that make their personal development and dream projects/visions one of their top priorities in life.

My philosophy on self fulfilment:

Something we all have in common is that 99% of our ancestors lived deeply connected to human tribe, nature, and spirit. In the big picture it’s only a small blip in time that we’ve lived disconnected and it’s important to keep in mind how evolution has designed us to thrive - connected.

Bones

When elders from a nature connected village in West Africa saw people in modernity, it was clear to them that the reason we’re moving fast is to avoid pain. When they see people moving fast in their village, everyone knows that person must be in deep grief and pain. And the way to heal is through slowing down to feel the pain. As children in modernity, many of us were prisoners in captivity with our parents that were too disconnected from themselves to hold us. So to survive as children, we had to avoid the pain through several survival strategies including depressing emotions,

I have come to believe that people naturally embody their gifts as service to the world when they are most connected with them self, others, nature and spirit. So it’s less about discovering what my “unique gifts” are and more about becoming highly connected which is my gift to the world.

When I am most connected to myself, others, nature, and spirit, my being is most aligned with the universe (compassionate, clear, present). And therefore my thoughts, behaviors, feelings, actions, visions, and words are more aligned with the universe. So for me to be of deepest service is to devote myself to whatever it is that helps me connect -

  • Connect with myself - let go of addictions, feel the pain, reclaim my exiled parts, come into relationship with my inner child parts, slow down to feel my feelings, and become self aware of how my childhood experiences are still limiting my present behaviour. And also through connecting my body and mind through mediation, breathwork, yoga, or other practices.

  • Human connection -

  • Connect with nature - through core deep nature connection routines such as sit spot,

  • Connect with spirit/ancestors/God/universe - come into relationship with your personal higher-power in whatever words resonate with you through prayer,

So the purpose of coaching/counselling is to deepen your connection with yourself, human relationships, nature, and your higher power - and your gift to the world is your most connected self.

What I expect from you:

  • Make our coaching/counselling relationship one of the top priorities in your life.

  • Do your homework. The healing, growth, and transformation is accelerated by the follow up actions. We spend our whole session harvesting the gold that is these actions. Do them.

  • Come prepared to sessions with what you want to work on.

What you can expect from me:

  • I will do my best to arrive to our session grounded, present and resourced. This includes not stacking too many sessions in one day, getting a good sleep, and hitting up my mornings practices (breathwork, yoga, meditation, and prayer).

  • If my inner child gets triggered during our session, I will name it, take responsibility, and pause to breath. Unfortunately most coaches/counsellors try to hide when this happens, but not me.

  • I will continue to do my own inner healing work with regular coaching/counselling sessions, weekly men’s group, and 12-steps recovery.

  • I will continue my education as a coach/counsellor by constantly taking new courses and leveling up my skills/toolkit.

Risk-free First Session

Rather than wasting a first session talking about coaching & counselling, I like to dive right in and do the coaching & counselling. To help us skip the usual pre-talk, I’ll send you a video to brief you on everything you need to know and have you fill out a form to share about yourself, what you are wanting support, and what your previous experiences with coaching & counselling (if any) have been like.

You only pay for your first session if we both decide that working together would be a good fit, otherwise, it’s free. And no rush in making your decision, some first time clients come back months later deciding they want to work together.

Rates

I prefer not to do single sessions for people. I tend to fall in love with my clients and like long term deep relationships. True magic happens from a place of serious self-commitment and consistency to doing deep inner work. Typically, step one is a free session. Then if you want to continue, you buy a 5-pack (which includes paying for the first session). Then if at the end of the 5 sessions you want to continue, you buy another 5.

$200/hr for a single session (I prefer not to do these)

$150/hr for five sessions

Cancellation Policy

Your session time is set aside for you. If you can’t make it for any reason, please let me know as soon as possible. Due to the difficulty of filling an empty slot at the last minute, I need 48 hours notice to contact someone else who might be waiting for an opening. If you need to cancel with less than 48 hours notice, it’s okay, but we will share the expense of the missed session and I will bill you for half your usual fee. If you miss a session without cancelling, I will charge the full amount, unless there was an unavoidable emergency.

About Garrett

I currently live in Salt Spring Island, Canada surrounded by a conscious community of friends that live deeply connected to nature, each other, and spirit. Right now, I have so much to be grateful for. A healthy body, a tight circle of badass friends that love and respect me, my men’s group, the chance to mentor teenage boys in nature connection, and a solid income from coaching business leaders to open their hearts.

As a “Social Architect”, I get to play around influencing culture on many different levels - in the corporate world through conscious leadership coaching and in my local community through mentoring teenagers in nature connection and leading an authentic relating and circling community.

Even though I score 0/10 on the ACE quiz, I definitely have trauma. I grew up in Edmonton with parents that loved me, provided financially, without alcohol/drug abuse, and without sexual abuse, but didn’t know how to hold me emotionally and created an environment of depression, anxiety, conflict avoidance and stress. During the first 20 years of my life living with my parents, my nervous system twisted up into a dreadlock of knots and tension. I was a prisoner in captivity and survived this environment through a wide range of coping mechanisms to disconnect from my self and avoid feeling my emotions. Some of these strategies that used to serve me as a child and teenager included watching a lot of porn, masterbating at least three times a day (stacking up a mountain of kleenex next to my bed), playing video games, watching movies, binge eating sugar/snacks, being hyper active with sports, chewing my nails, dissociating and checking out when at the dinner table, people pleasing, fawning, withholding, and depressing my anger/saddness - generally doing anything to avoid the present moment feeling my feelings.

Today I still experience a baseline state of anxiety and depression, plus struggle with coping mechanisms especially in times of stress. I’ve developed a lot of resources to help me comb out my deadlock nervous system such as daily breathwork/yoga/meditation, people that hold me emotionally (therapist, men’s group, 12-steps sponsor, trees that I talk to), grief rituals, and generally living a life in environments with people that I feel safe to be myself and deeply connected.
